Power Tek History
Power Technological Services Inc. (Power Tek) was incorporated in July
1998; our employees have been and continue to be involved in the startup,
testing and the service of all fossil fuel units which spans with 36
years of experience Power Technological Services and began to furnish
consulting services in the area of startup and commissioning, operations
and maintenance program assessments and performance and acceptance testing
for power generation facilities We supply a strong customer focus along
with our engineering and consulting services which provide an expert
staff of startup, testing and consulting engineers and technicians. These
disciplines include Instrument and controls, electrical and mechanical.
We continue to build a client list which keeps us in touch with the many
facets of the power industry. While much of our competition has been
involved with simple and combined cycle gas turbine units, we have continued
to strive for a mix of gas turbine and coal fired units to keep diversity
in our experience. Our experience keeps us in touch with the problems
with new units as well as existing units. With the limited coal unit
construction in the US during the past ten years, Power Tek personnel
have worked large coal fired unit startup and testing in Virginia and
Indonesia. Although we continue to work with the startup and testing
of combined cycle units, we are prepared for the resumption of the construction,
startup and testing of large coal units.
Power Tek has supplied startup and testing services to Kiewit Industrial
Company, Duke Flour Daniel, Burns & McDonnell, Sargent & Lundy,
Reliant Energy, Florida Power & Light, Mirant Zeeland, UAMPS Nebo
Project, El Paso Energy, ICA Fluor Daniel, Nebraska Pubic Power District,
Black & Veatch, TMPA Gibbons Creek, Fluor Constructors International,
Inc., Babcock and Wilcox, Texas Genco and Trans Alta Centralia Washington,
Colorado Energy, GDS Associates, Southern California Edison, Pratt & Whitney,
Siemens Westinghouse, Beirne, Maynard & Parsons, EDG Group, Tenaska,
Bibb & Associates and Baker Energy.
We continue to assist owners and operators in the modernization of
the controls and aging equipment on conventional coal fired units. Many
units were designed for a thirty year life and are continuing to operate
twenty years past their design life. Power Tek personnel have assisted
owners with the review of their coal fired units to ensure compliance
with changes in the NFPA 85-2005 and the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel
Code Rules for Power Boilers-2004. This attention to the condition of
the aging fleet of coal, gas and oil fired units should be incorporated
into a program to insure the integrity of the unit and the aging control
system. We continue to develop personnel with the skills to ensure that
the unit will continue to operate when required.
At Power Tek, we believe the key to our future is the experience in
our past. We appreciate the opportunity to be of service and assistance
to you.
