Services
PowerTek provides consulting, commissioning and startup services to power
generation facilities owners and engineer-procure-construct (EPC) contractors.
Our engineering services consist of services to enhance power plant
design, commissioning, testing and improve operations and maintenance
for existing and new power generation facilities. Our focus is to provide
our clients with the required expertise to exceed their contract requirements
for their power projects. The engineering, startup and testing personnel
are experienced in the many facets of power plant turnkey projects
and can provide the expertise to solve the problems and enhance the
project schedule that results in savings to our clients.
Power Tek provides consulting services in the area of startup and commissioning,
operations and maintenance program assessments, for power generation
facilities. We have experience with new and reconditioned power generation
equipment. Our goal is to work with the EPC Contractor to assure that
the project is completed on schedule and to budget projections. The many
facets of a power project from conceptual and design to operations must
be reviewed and optimized to meet or exceed project schedules without
compromising the project goals and profitability. Our experience will
be one of the resources used to provide quick resolution to problems
and contract or engineering issues. We understand that the schedule is
important to the owner as well as the EPC contractor and will expedite
any information required to complete the project. A project which does
not meet schedule milestones and experiences schedule liquidated damages
is detrimental to both the EPC Contractor and the Owner. Power Tek has
assisted many projects in meeting project schedule milestones and assisting
the project participants to meet the project goals.
Power Tek has assisted EPC Contractors and Owners to meet or exceed
schedule and financial goals for the following projects:
Provided startup and commissioning personnel to the Kiewit Industrial
Company to assist with the startup and commissioning for the El Dorado
Combined Cycle Project in Henderson, Nevada. The project was a Westinghouse
501F Combustion Turbine with a Westinghouse Steam Turbine and a Nooter
Eriksen HRSG. The scope included furnishing the lead Instrument and Controls
Engineer for the Westinghouse WDPF Control System and the plant DCS.
Provided Startup Manager, Lead Mechanical and Lead Instrument & Controls
Engineer for the AES Barry Project in Barry, Wales, UK. The project consisted
of simple cycle an Ansaldo Energia (Siemens design) 94.2 Combustion Turbine,
a Mitsubishi Steam Turbine, and a Nooter Eriksen HRSG and auxiliary equipment.
PowerTek personnel provided the coordination of startup, commissioning,
demonstration, reliability, environmental, performance and environmental
testing for the project. Worked with Mitsubishi, Ansaldo, and Ingersoll
Rand personnel on the resolution of equipment performance problems.
Provided the Lead Electrical Startup Engineer, Lead Instrument & Controls
Engineer, Controls Startup Engineer and a Mechanical Startup Engineer
for the Duke/Fluor Daniel Dearborn Project Phase 1, 3 and 4. The project
consisted of a combined cycle two dual GE 7 FA Combustion Turbine, three
Aalborg HRSG blast furnace gas boilers and two Aalborg HRSG’s, ABB Steam
turbines and auxiliary equipment. Provided Duke/Fluor Daniel with the
expertise to complete a difficult project. In addition, was responsible
for the redesign and isolation of the control system grid from the high
voltage “A” phase ground grid system. The control system had experienced
some very erratic spikes in the signaling to the protection system.
Provided a Startup Manager, Lead Instrument and Controls Startup Engineer
and Lead Mechanical Startup Engineer for startup, startup support and
consulting to Duke/Fluor Daniel for the Ingleside Cogeneration Project
in Corpus Christi, Texas. The unit consisted of two dual GE Frame 7 FA
Combustion Turbines and an ABB Steam Turbine. Provided startup support
and revised the schedule and provided input to enhance the time required
to complete the overall project.
Provided a Lead Instrument and Controls Startup Engineer and Lead Mechanical
Startup Engineer for startup, startup support and consulting to Duke/Fluor
Daniel for the Hildalgo Project in Edinburg, Texas. The unit consisted
of GE Frame 7FA Combustion Turbines and an ABB HRSG’s and a GE Steam
Turbine. Provided startup support provided input to enhance the time
required to complete the overall project.
Provided a Lead Mechanical Startup Engineer/Assistant Startup Manager
for commissioning support and consulting to Duke/Fluor Daniel for the
Paris Project in Paris, Texas. The unit consisted of dual GE Frame 7
FA Combustion Turbines and an Aalborg HRSG’s and a GE Steam Turbine.
Provided startup support and provided input to enhance the time required
to complete the overall project.
Provided a Lead Mechanical Startup Engineer/Assistant Startup Manager
for startup, and a Mechanical Startup Engineer for commissioning and
consulting to Duke/Fluor Daniel for the Guadalupe Power Project in Marion,
Texas. The unit consisted of dual GE Frame 7 FA Combustion Turbines and
an Aalborg HRSG’s and a GE D-11 Steam Turbine. Provided startup support
and provided input to enhance the time required to complete the overall
project.
Provided a Lead Mechanical Startup Engineer/Assistant Startup Manager,
Lead Instrument and Controls Startup Engineer, Operations Startup Engineer,
Mechanical/ Water Treatment Startup Engineer, and Balance of Plant Mechanical
Startup Engineer for commissioning support and consulting to Duke/Fluor
Daniel for the Odessa-Ector Power Project in Odessa, Texas. The unit
consisted of dual GE Frame 7 FA Combustion Turbines and an Aalborg HRSG’s
and a GE D-11 Steam Turbine. Provided startup support and provided input
to enhance the time required to complete the overall project.
Provided a Lead Electrical Startup Engineer for commissioning support
and consulting to Duke/Fluor Daniel for the Attala Power Project in Sallis,
Mississippi. The unit consisted of dual GE Frame 7 FA Combustion Turbines
and an Aalborg HRSG’s and a GE D-11 Steam Turbine. Provided startup support
and provided input to enhance the time required to complete the overall
project.
Provided Lead Electrical Startup Engineer, two Instrument and Control
Startup Engineers, an Electrical Startup Engineer, and a Mechanical Startup
Engineer for commissioning support and consulting to Duke/Fluor Daniel
for the West Georgia Power Project in Thomaston, Georgia. The unit consisted
of 4 GE Frame 7 FA Combustion Turbines simple cycle installation and
auxiliaries. Provided startup support and input to enhance the time required
to complete the overall project. Power Tek was responsible for the field
layout and isolation of the control system ground grid from the high
voltage ground system to eliminate spikes in the control system ground
system.
Provided Assistant Startup Manager/Lead Electrical Startup Engineer
and an Instrument and Startup Engineer for commissioning support and
consulting to Duke/Fluor Daniel for the Murray Power Project in Dalton,
Georgia. The unit consisted of dual GE Frame 7 FA Combustion Turbines
and an Aalborg HRSG’s and a GE D-11 Steam Turbine. Provided startup support
and input to enhance the time required to complete the overall project.
Provided Assistant Startup Manager/Lead Instrument and Controls Startup
Engineer for commissioning support and consulting to Duke/Fluor Daniel
for the Bastrop Energy Project in Bastrop, Texas. The unit consisted
of GE Frame 7FA Combustion Turbines and an Aalborg HRSG’s and a GE D-11
Steam Turbine. Provided startup support and input to enhance the time
required to complete the overall project.
Provided Controls Startup Engineer for commissioning support and consulting
to Duke/Fluor Daniel for the Newington Project in Newington, New Hampshire.
The unit consisted of GE Frame 7FA Combustion Turbines and an Aalborg
HRSG’s and a GE D-11 Steam Turbine. Provided startup support and input
to enhance the time required to complete the overall project.
Provided Controls Startup Engineer for commissioning support and consulting
to Duke/Fluor Daniel for the Modesto Project in Modesto, California.
The unit consisted of GE Frame LM6000 Combustion Turbine and an ATS Express
HRSG and a Dresser Rand Steam Turbine. Provided startup support and input
to enhance the time required to complete the overall project.
Provided Controls Startup Engineer for commissioning support and consulting
to Duke/Fluor Daniel for the Forney Project in Forney, Texas. The unit
consisted of GE Frame 7FA Combustion Turbines and an Aalborg HRSG’s and
a GE D-11 Steam Turbine. Provided startup support and input to enhance
the time required to complete the overall project.
Provided Lead Mechanical/Operations Engineer and Lead Electrical Startup
Engineer for commissioning support and consulting to ICA Fluor Daniel
for Iberdrola- Altimira III and IV Project in Altamira, Tamauilpas, Mexico.
The unit consisted of two (2) GE Frame 7FA Combustion Turbines, two (2)
Aalborg HRSG’s and a GE D-11 Steam Turbine. Provided startup support
and input to complete the startup of the unit in the time required by
the Client.
Providing Lead Mechanical, Lead Electrical, Senior Electrical and Senior
Controls Startup Engineer for commissioning support and consulting to
Fluor Constructors, International for the Nevada Power Moapa Combined
Cycle Project . The unit consisted of two (2) GE Frame 7FA Combustion
Turbines, two (2) Aalborg HRSG’s and a GE D-11 Steam Turbine. Provided
startup support and input to enhance the time required to complete the
overall project.
